What'cha know about LA???

So, the new year has started off a bit slow in blogland for me.  I am trying. . . that's all I can say.  How do you people with jobs, kids, dinners to make, PTO meeting, dance class, cub scouts, school, houses to clean blog every stinkin' day or even once a week for that matter???

I can't even seem to make once a month most of the time!

Well,  I need your help.  We are going to be taking a mini vacation in May to sunny California.  This is someplace we have never been.  We are actually going for a church conference but will be staying 4 extra days.  We are planning to spend those 4 days in West Hollywood, LA, area.  Bare with me, because since I have never been there I'm not really sure what I'm talking about.

Here is where you come in. . .
We are not really into the theme parks anymore, since we are so old, don't have young kids to enjoy it with, don't enjoy spending hours upon hours baking skin cancer into my skin, on the beach.  I have already had to have too many pieces of me removed from the good ole days, because I have had too many nasty sunburns.
However we would like to do some window shopping, eat at some nice places, see some hollywood kind of sight seeing.

Does anyone know of a great place to stay and a few things we just can't miss if we are going to be in the area???

I have everything booked, the flight, the car. . . . ok so not everything!  I can't decide on a hotel!!!  We looked at The Standard in downtown LA, and we also looked at the Griffon on Sunset, we also looked at Vince Beach.  But can't make a decision!!!

Give me all the input you have.  I know some of you life in California so tell me. . . where do I want to stay and what do I want to do.  I have 4 days to play!!!

Call ahead and ask any hotel you choose if they charge extra for your car. I know some do.

Did you mean Venice Beach or Vince beach? If you meant Venice then that's far away from Hollywood. (40 minutes?)

There is great shopping in Bev Hills but it's expensive. There's more trendy shopping on Melrose and that's in West Hollywood. Bev Hills is just past it. Bev Hills is great to walk around in also, ditto WeHo. (West Hollywood)

I know there's cool hotels in the area. Google!
